Molly Applebaum est née en 1930 à Cracovie (Pologne). Après la guerre, elle a passé trois ans dans des camps de personnes déplacées avant d’immigrer au Canada en tant qu’orpheline de guerre. Les Mots enfouis est la première traduction française du journal que Molly a rédigé en polonais de mars 1942 à janvier 1945, publié avec ses mémoires écrits dans les années 1990. Molly Applebaum vit à Toronto.
