Join us at the Montreal Holocaust Museum on June 8th at 7pm for the launch of Andrew Fuch’s memoir, The Wind Carries Me. This is the first bilingual memoir to be published by the Azrieli Foundation's Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program.
At eight years old, Andrew sees his carefree childhood vanish when the German army marches into Budapest, Hungary, in March 1944. Separated from their parents, Andrew and his sister, Edit, are passed between children’s homes before waiting out the Siege of Budapest in a building protected by the Red Cross. With the war’s end comes devastating news — Andrew is now an orphan — yet he strives to hold on to his mischievous spirit as he rebuilds his life.
The event will feature a short film about Andrew Fuchs’s life, followed by a conversation with the editors about the experience of creating this bilingual memoir. The evening will also include a Q&A with Andrew Fuchs.
Tickets are free and reservations are required.
Andrew Fuch’s memoirs will be distributed free of charge at the launch.
The event will be followed by a reception.
