International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2025
January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day (IHRD). Learn more about International Holocaust Remembrance Day and how the Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program is participating.
What is International Holocaust Remembrance Day?
In 2005, the UN designated January 27 – the day that Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in 1945 – as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this day, people around the world are encouraged to learn about the atrocities of the Holocaust, honour the memories of the six million Jewish victims and listen to stories from survivors.
