What is Holocaust Education Week?

Presented by the Toronto Holocaust Museum, Neuberger Holocaust Education Week (HEW) is an annual event that offers Holocaust education programming across Canada. Throughout the month of November, students and the general public can engage with Holocaust history through events that offer powerful learning opportunities.

How did the Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program participate?

The Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program is proud to have presented the following HEW events:

• October 30, 2023 – Book Launch: Hide and Seek: In Pursuit of Justice  
  Holocaust survivor Ben Carniol will be in conversation with Facing History’s Leora Schaefer, sharing his story of survival, and with Indigenous educator and author Dr. Kathy Absolon, discussing his work with Indigenous communities.

• November 1, 2023 – Book Launch: The Smallest Hope
  Learn about the new edition of this memoir by survivor and former London resident Jack Klajman z’’l, whose luck and bravery helped him endure life in Warsaw through the war.

• November 1, 2023 - Holocaust Survivor Speaker: Marie Doduck 
  A copy of Marie Doduck’s memoir, A Childhood Unspoken, is provided to attendees compliments of The Azrieli Foundation. Reception to follow the program.

Holocaust Education Week resources for students

The Holocaust Survivor Memoirs program has educational materials for middle and high school students created for classroom use. Our education team also offers student programs and teacher training sessions throughout the year.
