Escape: Holocaust Testimony as Animated Film

In this activity, students will be introduced to Morris Schnitzer, Holocaust survivor and author of Escape from the Edge, and explore the historical context of his survival in German-occupied Europe. After viewing and analyzing an animated account of his journey, students will reflect on key questions about the short film, historical testimony and media.

- Develop a greater understanding of the Holocaust through an adapted first-hand account.
- Develop media literacy skills by engaging critically with and discussing an animated short film.
- Synthesize information and practice oral communication with peers.
