A vivid and heart-wrenching memoir by former Newfoundland resident and Holocaust survivor Moishe Kantorowitz (1923–2008). Kantorowitz was born in the town of Shershev, Poland (now Šarašova, Belarus) and survived Auschwitz-Birkenau and Mauthausen. After immigrating to Canada, he moved to St. John’s in 1956 and became a travelling salesman. Kantorowitz was active in the Jewish community in St. John’s, and in 1995, he received an honorary degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland for his work in the field of Holocaust education.
