Morris Schnitzer was born in Bochum, Germany, in 1922. In 1938, his parents sent him to the Netherlands. During the German occupation, he escaped under a false identity, first to France and then to Belgium, where he joined a resistance group. In 1947, Morris immigrated to Canada, settling in Montreal and then Ottawa. Morris Schnitzer is the author of Escape from the Edge.
