John Freund was born in České Budějovice, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic), in 1930. During the war, he and his family were deported to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz-Birkenau. In 1948, John immigrated to Canada as an orphan and settled in Toronto. John Freund is the author of Spring’s End.
