Survivor testimony has been integral to Holocaust education and remembrance, bringing the horrors of the Holocaust to the attention of millions.

And as Canadians start to reconcile Canada’s shameful treatment of Indigenous people, the stories and testimony of Indigenous people can help us learn about and connect with their past and present experiences of cultural genocide and help us build a better future.

This event will explore how we can build cross-cultural solidarity through testimony.

Theodore Fontaine, residential school survivor and author of the memoir Broken Circle: The Dark Legacy of Indian Residential Schools, and Holocaust survivor Nate Leipciger, author of The Weight of Freedom, will discuss issues of trauma, resilience, writing and remembrance.

The discussion will be moderated by University of King’s College professor, Dr. Dorota Glowacka.
